Given duties and told to meet our goals.
We blindly accept them, believing they define us,
But these labels are short-lived to focus.
By losing our name, our existence does not cease,
By changing a job title, do we go jobless?
Beyond these labels lies our true self,
Not shaken nor tarnished, a treasure on a shelf.
Our souls are untouched by age and looks,
It’s not defined by the cover of your books.
Our bodies will perish, appearance will change,
But the soul remains intact in life’s stage.
Do not regret over wrinkles, health or attire,
These things will pass, like a dousing fire.
The true us will live beyond what we see,
Not in this skin and bones, nor in our physical body.
Success and failures does not define a man’s worth,
Nor our jobs, nor our places of our birth.
Whether one is rich or poor, weak or strong,
The soul is eternal and that is where we all belong.
To do our duty from our heart and not for its outcome,
Do not seek validation from others, it is dumb.
Our thoughts and fears might seem true and real,
But it is not, it is just how we all feel.
Our mind is a tool, it can help or it can trap,
It will guide or it will tangle, but we have to unwrap.
Living with discipline as it leads everyone to light,
Towards self realisation and away from our plight.
Don't chase success, dare to see failure in the face,
For both are temporary and lost in time’s race.
Be undisturbed by praises and criticism,
As when we let go of things, comes true wisdom.
Self realisation comes when we understand,
That we are not what we hold in our hand.
We are much greater than anyone can see,
And once we know this, we will forever be free.
