The world doesn’t pause to ask us,
If we’re doing fine with our tasks.
It only takes what we keep giving,
No matter how we are living.
If we keep offering ourselves each day,
One day we will know, we've drained away.
And when we're empty and tired
We'll wonder why the light expired.
Saying no, is not bad or unkind,
Its clarity for a peaceful mind.
We teach the world what to expect,
With every choice and self respect.
If peace requires our exhaustion,
If silence hides our own compulsion;
Then that is not true peace at all,
But just another quiet fall.
Don't build a wall when you draw a line,
Build bridges instead and honor what's mine.
Live with truth and not with rebellion's flame,
But out of love for self, the same.
The world learns our words and tone,
When we are available too often.
If boundaries end what was not true,
Then let it go; let the honest ones come through.
