When we celebrate victory of good over evil.
Let all negativity burn within that suffers,
All demons and demoness inside, to prevail.
To burn the inner faults of self and to purify,
And the end of winter and the advent of spring.
Holika Dahan followed by Holi to glorify,
The promise, filled with a new beginning.
True belief of Prahlad, s/o Hiranyakashyap,
A demon who disliked Lord Vishnu, the supreme one.
A powerful arrogant king, who insisted all to worship,
Him as a god; resisted, he decided to kill his own son.
Holika had a power that fire would not harm her,
Hence she walked into flames with Prahlad.
True to his devotion, Prahlad was saved from the asur,
And Holika turned to ashes instead.
Today we recreate this fire to spread a message,
If one decides to stay on the path of good.
One eventually triumphs the evil's rage,
True devotion will always protect us from bad.
The demon king again decided to kill his son,
Thinking that the boon of Lord Brahma will deliver.
As he cannot be killed by neither animal nor by men,
Not in the day and in night, shastra or astra, indoors nor in open air.
Thus, Vishnu taking the form of half-man-half-lion,
Protective Narasimha, killed the arrogant demon king.
So the message is clear, with pure devotion,
One will be protected no matter what, aloud I sing.
