The Return of the King (Diwali)

The day my lord returned from his banishment,
14 long years exiled from the world, his punishment.
No matter the reason, by treachery he was expelled,
Accepting his father's unwilling decision, he fulfilled.

With Lakshman, his obedient brother, faithful,
The one devoted to brotherhood and joined the exile.
A loving wife, Mother Sita, a shadow to substance,
Followed her husband without hesitation, even once.

After a long search of his love,
for whom, the mountains he would move.
A tough battle between men and demon on earth,
That ended with the mighty Ravana's wrath.

After all the strife and grief's end,
My Lord Ram with Mother Sita and Lakshman returned.
The land of Ayodhya, waiting for their arrival,
And thus the kingdom celebrated Diwali in Treta as a festival.

He ruled for years with harmony and peace,
An era of Rama Rajya, lasted with grace.
A model kingdom, that generations will talk,
Trust me none has ever succeeded in his walk.

A god in man's incarnation, yet humble,
Lived a normal life, never once he trembled.
And with Lord Rama the Treta era ended
Creating a way for another era, Dwapar, expanded.
