Mercy Killing

From my heart, when you walked out,
You took something along that I sought.
And left everlasting sadness,
It affected me so deeply and I am a mess.

I nurtured all my regret,
Only to repeatedly get hurt.
Disappointment, pain and tears,
Have become friends of mine for years.

The love I cultivated within,
Is my true self and a reflection.
You and me meeting and being together,
Sharing a short time with no future.

You couldn't taste my true love, I impart,
The fruits from the garden of my heart.
Like a thief in the dark, your memory awaits,
To play with my emotions and havoc it creates.

You should've killed my love with mercy,
As it will not survive your loss, you won’t see.
Your part in my story ended, I thought.
When from my heart, you walked out.
