People and Their Disguises

The disguise for evil is to be a saint.
With sweet words and a face with many paint.
The disguise of selfishness is shown as love,
Fast and fiery, not from above.

The disguise of hatred is acting kind,
A handshake given, but no heart behind.
The disguise of greed is called giving,
Helping others it seems, but selfishly living.

The disguise of fear is shown as brave
Strong outside and inside, it shaves the cave.
The disguise of guilt looks soft & pure,
But inside, the truth hides for sure.

The disguise of ignorance speaks like it's wise,
Big words said but with empty lies.
The disguise of pride is wearing humility,
Acts so modest, but full of vanity.

The disguise of silence is called peace,
But sometimes it's fear, and cries cease.
The disguise of weakness is strength displayed,
To gain our trust, games are played.

The disguise of bondage looks like freedom
But we still follow rules in this earthly kingdom.
We are forced to live with saints holding swords,
As we trust the face and not their words.

Yet disguise has power to rule our society,
Hiding truth behind silent authority.
Not all that is cold and white is snow,
But still we walk this life, and we must know.
