the most painful ways to die.
In Burning, a person feels the pain deep
in their nervous system
while breathing in smoke and hot air,
which scorches everything on its way in.
The Boomslang snake inflicts
a horrific death,
its venom causing severe internal bleeding.
Crucifixion remains an ultimate torment,
the whole world knows
the suffering of Jesus.
In drowning, a person is forced
to choke on water
as it invades every passage...
ears, nose, and mouth.
Electrocution causes
the muscles to seize,
bones to break, skin to swell,
and eyeballs to pop.
Freezing forces a bitter shiver
that stiffens the muscles,
causing the brain to malfunction
as blood flow turns to ice.
During a heart attack,
a person undergoes excruciating pain
that radiates to the arm,
jaw, neck, and back,
feeling like a weight no less than
an elephant on the chest.
A lethal injection kills
through suffocation,
caused by a rapid, agonizing buildup
of fluid in the lungs.
Pancreatic cancer brings prolonged,
unbearable nerve pain,
bone damage, and abdominal torture
with intestinal blockages.
Radiation damages tissue
and genetic material,
leading to fatal complications.
But science only records,
the physical flesh.
And then, there is She.
It cannot calculate the endless miles
of her coldness, stubborn distance,
or the sudden avoidance,
her silence and rejection,
causing suffocating heartbreak
that paralyses the soul.
Her rejection for me,
it feels more painful
than all of the above suffering,
because I just fell truly,
helplessly in love with her.
