In Search of a Queen, I Became the King

I created a palace for you in my heart,
You refused to be the queen, to play your part.
Where I grew immense love for you in depth,
But you rejected to be the one, on this earth.

I built my world around you in a glass,
But your absence broke it and didn’t last.
In the broken cracks my new hope began to shower,
I never knew my strength, that existed before.

I learned that love is more than one face,
It is the strength to stand firm to find my place.
You were not the sun that warmed my sky,
But I have become the light and learnt to fly.

The tears I cried, dried creating a new way,
Each drop a lesson and now sorrows are away.
I have grown in silence, where once there was pain,
I have found strength like the flowers after rain.

I am no longer bound to love that never was mine,
I’ve come to realize that I am the one who will shine.
Your memory though it was sweet, will slowly fade,
As I move forward, I'm no longer afraid.

The palace I built was not for you alone,
It is for my heart, and now I have grown within.
The queen I wanted was not you, but a king in me,
And in this self love, I’m setting myself free.
