The Shadow of You

When I expected you to light my world,

You took the light and left me in the dark.

Broke into millions of pieces and was hurled,

Losing all the charm, grace and spark.

You made a promise but it wasn’t true,

Or was it a prank that you played?

The pain is deep, what can I do?

And my soul feels it was betrayed.

My silence speaks a thousand words,

As you enjoy life with worldly pleasures.

Lost my inner peace, my soul's reward,

For letting you stay and treating you like a treasure.

In this play, there is no forward or rewind,

Nothing lasts forever but life needs to move and I care.

You were just meant to be a story in my mind,

So, I am letting you go but my love for you is forever.

The shadow of you in my mind,

That crawls often only to hurt again.

I have got a soft heart, so be kind,

The grief you’ve caused, no words to explain.
