Pretender's

We live in a world where truth has faded,
Where those who pretend have taken the stage.
Talent, skills, hard work, honesty;
Loyalty and love are treated cruelly.

Their only task is deception.
As imposters of emotions they win the praise.
People wearing masks are valued more,
Than those who dare to show their true face.

Many say they want honesty,
Yet push it away when it appears.
They call for loyalty as if it's slavery,
Taking freedom from those who give.

We know so many people by name,
But do we really know who they are?
They show us what we expect to see,
While hiding the truth deep inside.

Their smiles are wide and polished,
But inside, they hold only disrespect.
Every Hi, hello and a quick goodbye;
Just polite words to keep us quiet.

Even their words don’t match their deeds,
Playing life like it’s only a game.
The world claps for those who pretend,
And rejects those who live in truth.

The rarest person in this world is you,
Don’t demean yourself by pretending
Even a chameleon will lose the contest,
Against masters of disguise.
