I would have cracked it.
If it was built like a fortress,
I would have made it fall.
But she never had a place meant for me,
As her heart beat for other things.
She had her dreams and passions,
Future plans in which I wasn't there.
Her heart never answered my efforts,
Efforts alone can't make people fall in love.
There was no feelings at all,
So I sit with the truth instead of fighting it,
I love her in the only way I knew how,
And I am learning to be at peace with that.
Even when I knew she was beyond reach,
My love kept trying to breach the distance.
The days without her don't add up,
In truth, they feel fewer, not more.
She came when I wasn't looking,
And when I needed her, she disappeared.
She is not one in a million for me,
