she didn't stay long,
but brightened the darkness within me.
I could never forget her,
because she became
part of my soul's foundation.
She didn't walk beside me forever
because life reached a turning point.
She chose a different path.
My love was not lost when she left,
I only lost her form,
a vessel that carried her spirit.
My love changed its shape,
from presence to memory,
from conversation to silence.
Yet my love still remains,
it didn't disappear when she walked away,
it simply moved from the external to the internal.
I loved her as my person,
my lover, my reason and my everything,
but maybe she was never meant to belong to me.
I was trying to make eternity out of moments,
but I never stopped loving
because love was never ownership,
Perhaps we met not to accompany each other forever
but to awaken one another.
She thought the story ended when she left,
but in truth, that is when it started,
Her absence stripped away my illusion
and now only the truth remains, my love.
My love evolved from desire to devotion,
from attachment to awareness.
When she left, she also left behind something divine.
I don't miss her because she is mine,
I miss her because my love still lives within me
and perhaps that the only forever
we were meant to have love, not togetherness.
