The time you give, the warmth you lend,
the comfort that you always send.
They like the feeling you create,
the way you give, the way you appreciate.
But if you look a little deep,
it's not your heart they want to keep.
Slowly you see the small divide,
you give your all, they enjoy the ride.
They take your presence as something sure,
But your own pain they don't ensure.
You stand for them in every need,
But they are gone when you bleed.
They stay only where love is easy,
Not where it becomes a little uneasy.
It hurts to know your love was true,
While theirs was not pure for you.
But this truth will make you wise,
and slowly open your inner eyes.
So guard your heart, don't give away,
to those who only come to stay
For comfort, not for loving you,
wait for a heart that gives back too.
