My devotion came with a heavy cost,
A part of myself was slowly lost.
But even knowing what I became,
My heart still whispers her name the same.
Now my love has two different faces,
One lives in memories, warm embraces.
The other lives in distance and time,
A silent romance that was never mine.
Life pulled us towards different directions,
Leaving unanswered questions.
Not giving us a chance to understand,
Why we could not walk hand in hand.
People change, seasons move on,
Days pass quickly and years are gone.
But my loves stays, as it is true,
No matter what life puts me through.
My love for her inspired my soul,
But slowly took a hidden toll.
It made me restless, fierce, undone,
Chasing shadows I could never outrun.
At times it almost felt self-destructive,
A force both beautiful and disruptive.
It build me up, then tore apart,
The strongest pieces of my heart.
Maybe that is my fate, maybe that is my role,
To carry her gently inside my soul.
Not because she stayed,
Not because she knew,
But because my heart never
learned not to love her.
