Maybe she misses me,
but still did not choose me.
My heartbreak did not come from cruelty,
It comes from confusion.
It was not broken because she hated them,
she noticed me, spoke sweetly,
showed interest, gave attention,
and then disappeared
when it truly mattered.
My mind became attached to the stimulation.
Her attention felt like affection,
and her final message,
shook my heart.
A little interest from someone unstable
made me feel chosen and then abandoned.
Affection came from desire
attention came from intention
but commitment never arrived.
She liked the idea of me
more than the reality of me.
Her attention was pleasant,
even intoxicating,
but it was not love.
And what wounded me most
was not rejection,
it was mistaking attention
for commitment.
