And just like that
a beloved person lies quietly
and moments later, they disappear
from this world.
The one who loves us the most,
and the one we love the most.
They leave us with pain,
with heartbreak,
with a lot of memories to cherish
and with the regret,
that we could never experience
all of it again.
Burying or cremating a loved one
is the most painful moment for any man.
We see the person whose hands we held,
whose shoulder we leant upon during distress,
the person we walked with,
who is no longer here to guide us.
The person with whom we shared our moments,
whose eyes eagerly looked at us with love,
whose mouth uttered our name with care.
The person who taught us many things,
and we are burying the very same person
who once felt like our whole world.
Their presence becomes a memory,
and forever we have to live with their absence.
Memories bring smiles upon our face,
and also makes us drown in tears.
We cannot create a tomorrows with them,
but can carry only yesterdays.
Every breath is one less,
every heartbeat is one less
every day lived is one less,
every rupee spent is one less.
But still people believe
they can accumulate every worldly possession,
forgetting that life itself
is slipping away
with every passing second.
